It’s a busy day already for Team SANYA as we are joined by some of our shore team, in preparations to remove the rig this afternoon. The boats clean and sails are drying, and it’s a scorcher of a day here in Fort Dolphine.
Team members Ryan Houston, Bert Schandevyl and Tiger left this morning to head home for Christmas, and more will leave tomorrow. The remaining crew wasted no time in finishing the clean up of boat and gear. We had some local guests on board, that quite honestly could not believe that this is something we did, how we did it, and the fact that we got paid to do so… It really puts things in perspective, and in general our stay here has been a really big eye opener for all of us. We are of course still gutted by our current position and any chance we get we log on to see how the fleet is doing and curious to know how things would have panned out for us. But being here brings us back to a humble place, and it really sets in how fortunate and lucky we all are to have the resources that we do, to be able to do what we love day in and day out…
Lastly, for now, there is a slight dust over some of the crew after last night, One of us (not me) is going to be a father in 6 months time, and we are all very excited and elated for our mate. We wish him and his family all the best; this is both positive and great news for Team SANYA!
More to come,
andrés
